Our family welcomed home twin boys this past December. We were surprised to find one of our sweet little boys, Graham, has a cleft lip & palate. Our research over the following weeks led us to discover how many kids across the world are unable to have this corrected and how devastating it can be for their quality of life. This breaks our hearts. With the loving support of his other dad and his brother, Arthur, we feel so fortunate to be able to offer Graham the best care possible and we want to make sure we can help as many kids as possible get the surgeries they need.
This year I’m running the Chicago Marathon and will raise funds for Smile Train to help give children around the world not only new smiles, but a second chance at life.
Smile Train is an international children’s charity that provides free surgery to poor children suffering from cleft lip and cleft palate. Midtown Life Studio donates money from our events (lunch & learns, health fairs, etc.) and we are also asking for your support.
Children born with cleft cannot eat or speak properly, aren’t allowed to attend school or hold a job and face very difficult lives of shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Some children are even abandoned or killed—all because of the way they look. Their clefts usually go untreated because they are too poor to afford the simple repair surgery that takes as little as 45 minutes and costs as little as $250 dollars. Yet with your help, we can save these children and give them the life changing surgery they both need and deserve. It’s my goal to raise $6,500 as a team. That would be 26 surgeries. How fitting! 🙂
Please help me support Smile Train either by joining my team or contributing generously to my fund.
