What Is Subluxation

Subluxation, What Is That?

What Is SubluxationLet’s say you accidentally drop a brick on a puppy’s tail. The puppy is now crying and whaling. Instead of removing the brick off the puppy’s tail you give the puppy a pain pill, but hours later it wears off and the puppy starts crying again. Now you are tired of hearing the puppy so you decide to have it’s voice box removed. After all, that’s what is the most annoying part of this whole experience. Now the puppy is just in pain, but can’t communicate with you, and you are still painfully aware that something is wrong, so you give the puppy another pain pill and wait.

I know this story sounds ridiculous, but this is what we as people do. It’s what we’ve been trained to do. We take a pill for everything and then when it doesn’t fix it we jump to the extreme. It is INSANE!

What is Subluxation (Pronounced sub•lux•a•tion)?

“Subluxation? What is that?”, uttered a patient that has been getting adjusted in my office for 7 years. Honestly, it was a bit of a kick in the face. How can my patients not know what a subluxation is? This horrible thing that apparently no one knows about is the cause of most symptoms and diseases out there today.

Now admittedly I don’t always spend enough time educating patients, preferring instead to enjoy the day playfully gabbing about weekend plans, the kids last soccer game or the match.com date from last night. Don’t get me wrong. We have fun. And I really look forward to my days because of it. However, sometimes I neglect my purpose here. I have committed to provide an exceptional chiropractic experience which includes both chiropractic care as well as education.

So here it is as simple as I can make it. In order to fully comprehend what a subluxation is there are 3 truths you need to know.

3 Truths About Subluxation

  1. Your body is self-healing and self-regulating.
  2. Your nervous system is the master controller of your body.
  3. Interference to your nervous system interferes with your body’s ability to heal and self-regulate.

So where does subluxation fit in? It is the interference. Stress on your body creates misalignments in your spine. These shifts clamp down and choke your nerves.

Remember, your nervous system controls EVERYTHING, so these subluxations can cause any number of symptoms and disease. To name a few:

You don’t have to tell your finger to heal from a cut. You don’t have to remind your heart to keep beating. Your body is brilliant and has an amazing capacity to heal. Unfortunately, we have been trained to take a pill for everything. Or, if something is not working correctly we surgically remove it. In most cases these pills don’t fix the problem, they only mask the symptom. They also, along with removing an organ, create a whole new set of issues that you’re left dealing with.

Now that you know, who do you know that should be checked for subluxation?
